I enjoy travelling around Ireland and taking photographs of the landscape and old houses. I have like history, Irish heritage and enjoy making arts and crafts. I have combined these interests to create Irish themed crafts from pretty pendant necklaces featuring Irish landscape images including; Irish cottages, castles, mountains and old buildings.
Another interest, I travel around to local and national beaches collecting sea glass and sea pottery. I make art pieces and jewellery from it. I like how an old glass bottle discarded many years ago has ended up as smooth pieces of tumbled sea glass washed up on a beach.
What is sea glass?
Sea glass originates as pieces of glass from broken bottles, broken tableware, or even shipwrecks, which are rolled and tumbled in the ocean for years until all of their edges are rounded off, and the slickness of the glass has been worn to a frosted appearance. Sea glass takes 20 to 30 years, and sometimes as much as 50 years, to acquire its characteristic texture and shape.
Also, found along the shore are old pottery shards which have been tumbled by the ocean over many years, those with pattern designs can make for unusual and quirky pendant necklaces.
